Nikeguy's insights on the economy
So, I've seen thread upon thread of users saying the economy is getting ugly . Fast.
That is very true. But some of the solutions they come up with are flawed. Here's a few I've seen and why they can't work; 1.Make coins easier to get- This won't work because the more you have of something, the less the value is. That'll kill the economy altogether . 2.Take away promos - Promos are the main source of income for a lot of users, if you take that away users won't make money(Coins) and that won't help the economy AT ALL. 3.Get the wealthy staff members to give coins out-Besides the fact you can't make staff members do anything unless your username is Da Man, why should wealthy users have their coins stripped? Yes this would help the economy , but I'd rather have a jacked up economy than an un-fair game. There are some good ideas that I saw though, and reasons that they are good; 1.Slow down promos, especially 1 day ones- If there's a one day promo very other week or so , they really aren't special, and it there's so many different promos pouring in the game , the richer users will be able to get them for cheaper which dosent really get the coins flowing. 2.Limit 50-50 bets-Yes this does seem a bit stupid. Users should have self control when it comes to 50/50 but a lot of them do NOT. Which usually ends up with a wealthy player dominating all the bets for a couple hours. So if there was a limit, the 50/50 bets don't get dominated. 3.Coin cap-Stops hoarding, to a point. But the cap can't be a permenant cap. Maybe you pay a certain amount and the cap increases. Anyways the point is, you can't just complain and beg for Da Man to fix the economy . Yes he owns the site. But he can't fix the economy by himself. There is no solution that he can perform by himself. It'll take time. Users have to play a part in the rebuilding process. Stop with the threads. Go do something about it. Throw some pokemon in the aution house. Spend some time in the trades section. And stop expecting your Pokemon to sell for what they're rated. You'll have to let them go for less right now. That's all there is to it if we expect to fix this economy. Thanks for reading. ~NG
