Remixing Music
Hey guys. I want to remix music such as the music Glitch City makes on Youtube, I love what she remixes and I think it would be awesome to do also. I know she uses FL Studio 10, but I was wondering if anyone has other software to recommend? I was thinking about purchasing FL Studio 11 in the future, but I'm looking for some feedback before I pay 100+ dollars for a software system. Thanks! :)

I would recommend Fl Studio, I use it occasionally and they really did a good job on it, pretty easy to get a hold on

There's some completely free (open-source, any programmer can edit it in their free time (although it is moderated) so no ads/viruses/paid features etc...) alternatives you can try in the meantime listed here and below:

Ardour (Mac/Linux) (this is $1/month to download but if you know how to compile the source it's technically free, also there's a demo so you can see if you like it or not)
Linux Multimedia Studio (LMMS) (Windows/Linux)
Traverso DAW (Windows/Mac/Linux)
Hydrogen (drum machine) (Windows/Mac/Linux)
Audacity (Windows/Mac/Linux)
Rosegarden (Linux)
Qtractor (Linux)
OpenMPT (Windows)

I recommend that you try out the ones in that list that work on your platform before spending so much of your money on this other software. Try and put your finger on what exactly the expensive software has over this free software.

You can try running LMMS and OpenMPT on Mac using this, I have no idea if it will work or not. Same for OpenMPT on Linux here.

Also you can install a good Linux distribution with these instructions (if you scroll down) to try the non-Mac/Windows software but you'll need to use an old computer or back up your existing one (and find a Mac/Windows boot disc) in case things go wrong.
