I have got a shiny pokemon and coins within the two days!
And I did open the Box using my other account and found a different prize,so I think everybody gets random prizes!

Advent Calendar
The Advent Calender is similar to lucky dip except the chances of getting better prizes, e.g. coins and shinies are increased. Also as Shinxey said on the 24th I think everyone gets snowballs with a message saying a random player threw them at you. Plus on Christmas day everyone receives a santa hat which unlocks a new avatar. e.g. 2013 was lime santa hat, 2012 was blue santa hat and 2011 was pink santa hat.
