This is a guide to make Shadows like I do. This is a Gimp guide so yes you need gimp.
1.Get your sprite. I use [you must login to view links]
2.Save sprite (duh).
3.Open gimp and Open sprite pic.
4.Click Image > Mode > RGB.
5.Click Colorize. Set color to Hue: 284 Saturation: 100 Lightness: -38
6.Right Click the layer and Click Duplicate Layer.
7.Select bottom layer and go to Filters > Alpha to Logo > Glowing Hot.
8.Selecting the Glow's layer, go to colorize and use the same settings as the sprite.
9.Selecting the glow again, Click Filters > Distorts > Wind.
10.Choose what you want, I usually do 50,5.
11.Save sprite and your done!

Credit for the colors to use belongs to Magnetrise, Wind effect Idea doesn't belong to me but Settings for it do.
