You get coins by getting them from wailords lucky dip or by being extremely lucky in 50/50.

the auction house is the best way. get a promo, put it up for auction for 10 days, it'll take a while, but as far as I know, it's the safest way to get coins besides the Lucky Dip

also u would be able to make some coins trying to find shinies in maps they dont come alot but i believe a 1 in 250 chance to find shinies sell them for 100-120 each save coins till u have enough..
as for gambling i would not advice betting unless u would not mind losing since alot are using multiple account to take bets chances are high u end up broke
