i just joined this game a little while ago & i am completely lost. how do you play this game?

There is no real aim, apart from winning all 40 gym badges, you set your own targets such as get golett lv 5000 and try and sucseed.

The point of the game is to collect Pokemon, train them to unreasonably high levels, and to gain coins buy selling Pokemon you don't need.
