1. If you haven't tried it yet, get Linux with the instructions on my post on Mountain Dew's problem thread on the Tech Lab, Linux doesn't need antivirus which means that it is incredibly fast.
2. Your new PC will probably have Windows 8 which comes with an upgraded Windows Defender which has anti-virus in it. 3. If not, you can download 'Microsoft Security Essentials' for free which is a very good piece of anti-virus software. There is no such thing (in my opinion) as 'the best anti-virus software'. MSE works. Use it.

I suggest AVG. Ever since I installed I haven't had one virus however it would be wise to block all ads from it since there is a lot.

Norton and AVG, although I've never used AVG, I've always been a Norton user. It's more advanced and has a ton of neat features against viruses and hackers. :)

I posted here once so I'll just explain my experiences with some anti virus so far.
AVG - It's the one that the company that I work is using, so far it's good. ESET - It's the one that I'm using here in my laptop, so far it's good.(and also my school) Norton - It's the one that my uncle is using, it's good. |

i would say avira because its easy safe and it is free you can get an advertisement sometimes but you can just click it away and you can continue whatever it was you were doing(it doesn't protect against spyware)
