Alright what if I gave a pokemon to someone for them to train and I loaned it to them. What if that pokemons level got higher than my trainer level. Would they not be able to return that pokemon until my trainer level rose?

Loaning is fine, it's if you trade "permanently" then you would have to raise your trainer level :)
