Yea it does. When i used old rod my highest was 23k. But with a super rod now my highest is 32k. It's mainly up to your luck though.

yeah it is luck but super rod has better chance than old rod but I only got maximum of 29k so It bored me on fishing contest

it truely depends on ur luck its not neccessary that a super rod can only get u a better chance i got a 30k catch once with a old rod so its not neccessary

It depends on luck but I think the super rod has a higher chance of getting high points Pokemon.
