You can unscrew the back of the 3DS and take out the battery or let it run dry.

If you keep having trouble, you might be able to find someone on Craigslist who fixes this kind of thing. I've saved a lot of money by using Craigslist to find computer repair versus using an overpriced service like Geek Squad. Or try calling Nintendo directly?

I know how to fix any electronic that has a battery if no virus is already in the drive
Just turn on the electronic and overheat the battery the take it out and tap it a few times then re-insert the battery
