Chapter 1.

I need to tell you something.
I'm a mage.
If you think I'm crazy, just shut this book.
But I'm DEAD SERIOUS.
It all started at my sister's birthday party, when the cake detonated. Not toppled over, I mean exploded. As in into a million pieces.
After we finished singing "Happy Birthday" I yelled "Kaba shu!" for comedy reasons.
Then, carnage. The cake went BOOM! Everyone was covered in pink, and all persons under 96 were gaping at where the cake, um, was. Great-Grandpa Kevin was, er, asleep, but he didn't snore, so I couldn't tell.
Anyways, I hurried to my room and prepared for the punishment of a lifetime.
But what came next was the last thing I could believe to hear.
"Hey, Zack, I've been hiding something from you for fourteen years. I need to tell you that you're... a mage."
And I replied with:
"Yeah. And pigs fly with robin wings."
Dad handed me a stick with a diamond attached.
"Take this. It was mine."
"Does Mom know?"
"Yes, and she also has the gift of magic."
...... Oo-kay. Wierd, huh? Positively wierd, but ultimately true.
Dad just replied, "Let's get you some magic training."
