So I was running a program to record for the first time. Before it began it said it needed to switch to basic mode. It turned my orange task-bar to blue and got rid of the "screen previews" when I moused over a window. It has done this before and I "fix it" by just closing the program. This time it did not change back after closing the program. It did not switch the theme though since my background pictures were still there. I still tried switching themes, but the task-bar did not change colors and the "screen previews" still did not appear. I have tried logging off, restarting and shutting down my computer. None of that worked.

If you're in Windows 7, try going to your Task Manager then clicking "Explorer" and ending that task, then try restarting your computer or logging out of the account, and logging back on.

like morbid said it might just be confused so try turning it off then back on by restarting it

I think you could try this.
if it's a windows 7.
1.)Try searching "change color scheme".
2.)After that, there can be selection(color scheme) seen below.
3.)Try windows 7 standard.
4.)click apply, then ok.
