I would definitely recommend either Spirited Away or Princess Monanoke (I think that's how you spell it). They are my two favorites! =)

I highly recommend:

Shiki ~ Very Bloody Vampire anime. I loved it so much even though i ended up cringing because of some parts in it. Just a warning it's kinda gruesome.

Princess Tutu ~ This was a very beautiful anime. It's about ballet but there is more to it than that. It has a fairy tale type vibe going on. It's funny and cute as well as being beautiful. I think it's worth checking out.

Gravitation (Shonen-ai/Boy Love) ~ The main character is a guy in love with another guy, they kiss and hug. It's a hilarious anime and the music is great. I love all the songs. It is about love and a guy trying to make his band the best.

Clannad ~ Great anime but OMG! I cried so much. I was like "i'm not gonna cry" and i ended up in tears. It's an emotional anime. But it's also cute and funny.
