After what has seemed to be the last of Cipher in the Orre region no one expected it to return again. Ardos, avenging his family's defeat at the hand of Micheal, resumed Shadow pokemon production once more and amassed an army of Cipher Peons. Cipher has now again resumed their reign of terror on the Orre Region.

To combat Cipher's return Professor Krane has been training young pokemon trainers to battle Cipher. He's been providing the young trainers with pokemon of their own and purchased redesigned snag machines from Team Snagem to capture Shadow pokemon. The scientists of the pokemon HQ Lab have also been creating more Purify Chambers all around Orre.

Ardos, not wanting to be a failure like his father and Evice has been also recruiting young trainers. He's given them a Shadow pokemon and a snag machine to steal trainer's pokemon and transform them into shadow pokemon.
