Destra kept moving once the truck was out of the way.

Jeff was in the armory, collecting weapons. Edward was looking for a way through the blockade.

Destra kept walking back to base.

"Ready up." Hawkins said from the woods. "Let the first jeep go." Judd and Kevin loaded a Humvee with bombs, put a cinder block on the gas pedal, and sent it off towards the base.

Destra was back at the base.

"Why were you outside the blockade?" Jeff asked, his voice a lot deeper and rougher.

"I arrived a little bit too late." Destra was secretly wondering what was wrong with Jeff's voice.

"Ya know Jeff doesn't like it when his troops are late." Jeff said, the voice still there. Jackal looked at Jeff strangely and nervously.

"Uh, did you just refer to yourself in third-person?"

"No." Jeff said. "You high or something."

"A drug reference?" Jackal muttered. "Oh god no."

"Well, I did use to drink, but I quit. And I never used any other drug. Why?"

"It's an expression." Jeff said. "What I'm trying to say is you can't tell from me or Jeff?"

"Um, no, not really." Destra had decided to play along, seeing that something is clearly wrong.

"Ya don't notice the scar or the pendant?" Jeff said.

"Let's just say I don't pay attention to details on one's appearance." It was true--she does recognize faces, hair colors, and the like, but not the minor details.
