I think if you were a bit earlier i mean when the game started you could have caught rainbow or shadow mudkip but now you cant i think you can only get sy poke from map

Catch them, other than Shinies, no. Obtain them without trading, yes. But only through the promos, some contests, and some holiday events (Ex. The Halloween event you can exchange candies for them.)
