Laohu sat on the bench in front of Broadway. She came from a Chinese family who emigrated to the U.S. in the late 19th century. Being Chinese-American doesn't always have its perks, especially if you didn't live in Chinatown.

Some guy pissed me off and I slithered past Laohu.

Laohu saw a snake slither past her. "What the-A snake in NYC?"
