"I was what?" I ask.

"Dead...he said it, I saw you....why are you helping me? what could you possibly gain from my life?" She asked, tears stinging her eyes at the thought of her dying.

"Demons don't die," I say.

"Okay, that answers my first question.." She mumbled.

"I'm helping you because I'm nice and you have no idea about the rest. You're the last human being on earth." I say, "I see that you don't wanna die, I won't let that happen, just trust me and you will see."

Alice thought about somethign. "Thats not the whole...story is it?" She asked.

"Well, there's history to it if you'd like to know... You were asleep during the entire apocalypse." I say.

"T-the what..." She asked.

"The apocalypse... But it'll be okay." I say.

"An dim th elast..." She asked.

"Yeah," I say, hanging my head down. "I'm sorry I couldn't save anyone else."

"No...you did what you could.." She said, putting a finger under his chin and lifting his head to look at him.

"Such a desolate world now..." I say.

"As long as there is life it's not desolate.." She said, smiling and keeping him from looking down.

I smiled a bit.
