Please Help! Leveling My Level 5 Pokemon. NEW HERE

I am new to this, everything looks fun and awesome but I am having a few problems.
If someone can inbox me back or reply to this thread, I would appreciate it!

I see all these battle options and what not. But, how do I level my cyndaquil?
Where do I click? Can I battle wild pokemon somehow? Or battle trainers that are in the same range is me? Like how do I get started? My Cyndaquil is a level 5, my starter pkmn but I don't see any options where I can use it and train it and whatnot.

and also alisha,there are something about these sections in forums..
this is general discussionz so you cant post questions related to training or in game ,etc
there is a section questions/help where you can get more help from without the thread being closed.
