Melody was pacing again. She was thinking about how in an hour, she would be going on the train and officially going to the Hunger Games. It was a horrible feeling, knowing you would be fighting to the death with other people.

"calm down, melody. i look forward to it. a chance to put our survival skills to the test." hunter said.

"Yeah, a test that could result in death!" Melody said, turning to face Hunter. "Sorry..." She murmured, realizing her outburst might have been a little rude.

"dont be. it is only natural to feel nervous." Hunter told her. "i look forward to the challenge. thats why i volunteered, after all."

Melody sighed. "You're right." She said, remembering everybody's shock when Hunter volunteered. "I think the train will be here any minute. Let's get ready."

"Another thing"' Hunter said, folowing Melody for lack of anything better to do, "I have no one left to be sad for me if I die.They told me I wouldnt survive in the wild, even if I managed to run away. But I dont want their pity; I dont need it."

Melody looked over at Hunter.
"Surly someone will be sad if you die!" She said, shocked at what he had said.

"perhaps. my best friend is my cat. without me..." Hunter said.
