Well this "Christmas" thing originated from a pagan holiday onto the next thing onto the next. I think in this current generation it's losing it's religious value to most of society and this story of a person or people who come once a year to deliver gifts to those who are good and usually yes this takes appeal to the children. Over the world the story changes different names and such but generally the same idea. Santa is a lot different than the whole Jesus story. TL;DR Christmas has lost its religious aspect that's why people of any or no religion celebrate it their own way.

Christmas is not a christian idea, christmas was origionally a pagan festival to celebrate the coming of a new year, so anyone can celebrate christmas, personally i think the fact that some religions ban it is out right disgraceful
