The color orange actually doesn't exist from a scientific standpoint. It's just a label that we give to items which reflect light within a certain range of wavelengths. We see orange because our brains interpret the sensory input that way. Before the English-speaking world was exposed to the fruit, the colour was referred to as "yellow-red" (geoluhread in Old English) or "red-yellow". So before the romance languages (French, Spanish, Italian, etc.) came into more contact with the Germanic languages (English, German, etc.), the distinct color of orange didn't exist in Old English. It was just a combination of red and yellow.

Citrus fruit was around when people didnt exist and cavemen probably ate it and made some sound that sounds kinda like orange... Lol

this is like saying what came first the chicken or the egg. the orange could have been called an orange and the color was named after it or the orange was named after the colour

I think that the fruit was named after the color because if you think about it, orange the color actually was given the name orange. This was probably passed on to the fruit orange. Of course it could be the other way around. The subject itself is confusing.
