Shelby got up did her stuff, and went outside and sat on the tree stump by her cabin.
"Why do I have to get stuck with these girls?" she thought to herself.

Since the campgrounds between the male and female cabins was the across the whole camp, I decided to dig in my bag. I wanted to go swimming this morning. Sure, the sun had barely even woken and rose over the horizon, but the sweet smell of nature had calmed the air. These were the moments I've always loved the most.

So I change into my swimtrunks, I put my towel on the 'dock' and dive in. In fact, the water was so cold I yelled. Good thing the counselours don't have cabins here. They sleep in an inn across the street. About a half mile from here.

I was thinking so much I forgot I was in water. It was freezing and that feeling on my toes made me want to drop down like an anchor. So I just began swimming, the lake was right behind of (or in front, depends on which way you look at the scene) the track, which was the center of camp. One lap was a third of a mile, or at least, pretty close to it.

So I'm stuck in a cabin with a bunch of pinpricks for the next few weeks. Perhaps I could make at least one friend here, but normally I make enemies more efficiently.
I can't sleep, so I ever so quietly step out of the cabin.

I see someone sneak out of their cabin.

"Hey!" I call, hearing a soft wind breeze carrying my voice through the mountains.

The sound echoes through the woods, and a couple birds fly ahead.

A voice from another camper catches me off guard. I reply with, "You out here too? I thought I was the only one here..."

"No, I've been out here for an hour." I explain.

I get out of the water, and dry off. I put on a shirt and keep the towel around my neck.

"I'm Kenneth, or Kenny, as some kids call me." I say.

Shelby eventually got up from the stump and went to go sit by the lake, when she noticed that Kenny was already down there, but so was another camper.

I look behind me.

"Hey, Shelby." I say. "Guess who I got roomed with. The JOCKS! It smells bad in there, I wished I packed a tent. So, how are you handling this?"

"Even worse." Shelby replied.
"I got stuck in a room full of loud and annoying girls. I didn't get any sleep last night. They were so obnoxious."

"Well, you can look at the bright side of things, you only have to stay the nights there. At least we're in the same group, eh?" I ask.

I didn't really have anything to say, so I took off my shirt and dove into the freezing cold water.

"This stuff is COLD!" I say.
