fanfic is a fictional story written by a fan of whatever they're writing about.

I...wouldn't suggest looking any up to read, because a lot of them are really nasty. Some to the point where if they were movies, they'd be rated X.
(I've never read a shipfic, but I know what it is, and I know that last bit, because a friend of mine actually DID read one to see what the fuss was about and told me about it. 0_0)

I actually read a few good FlippyxFlaky shipfics by fans of Happy Tree Friends, because they actually took it slow, but most of the time, they're exactly what Shinxey described.
